When a person is detained by ICE, an immigration judge may set a bond—money that must be paid to secure their release while their case proceeds. OCJF operates a community-based bond fund to support individuals who cannot afford this cost, helping families reunite and allowing people to fight their cases from home. Our goal is to reduce the harms of immigration detention and make freedom accessible to all.
The Washington Post recently reported on an alleged ICE memo threatening to restrict immigrants' access to bond hearings. Read our statement about this potential policy shift and how we will continue to support our neighbors with our bond fund.
